How many times have you been inspired to do something but squashed it in your mind before you even had a chance to explore the idea? For me, that’s a lot! I was recently reminded I’m not dreaming BIG enough. How about you? I know, I know, the whole world is telling you what you’re not doing all the time but when it comes to what you want to be, do, and have, DREAM BIG to let God alongside you. You know what we are when we don't dream big? Thieves. Yes, I said it. More than likely your big dream will serve others, don't rob them of what you have to offer! God wants us to dream big and serve one another. So here’s how to start serving... Your plans, your projects, your dreams have to always be bigger than you, so God has room to operate. When we dream big we get curious, ask big, get creative, and build our faith! What’s something in your life that you haven’t gotten curious enough about? Oftentimes our big dreams require big support from experts. You may need to ask someone outside your usual circle of influence, a coach, a financial advisor, or a mentor the steps you need to take to reach your big dream. When you ask up, you want to go up. You have to know what you’re aiming for... When you get curious about your big dream, you may find that what you thought were big obstacles are actually big breakthroughs.
Get creative with how you achieve your big dream. Most likely your big dream is just that because it seems out of reach financially, physically, or geographically… Try brainstorming all the ways the big dream can happen, create a vision board for yourself so your big dream is always in plain sight, or try journaling daily on your progress towards your big dream. The point is, don't keep all the awesomeness inside, let it out! A big dream also means you have faith in your future. You may have heard the phrase, fake it 'till you make it, I prefer, faith it ‘till you make it! You most likely aren’t faking it to get anywhere, you’re trying! And each try gets you closer to your big dream. So if fear of taking a risk is holding you back, please consider that if no one pushed beyond the walls of their comfort zone, the whole word would be stuck. God has big plans for you, lean in, get quiet so you can hear Him, and ask Him for direction. Remember, confidence is a result of action. Take steps toward your big dream and confidence and faith will build. What's your big dream? Does it have a big ask? Here's a big dream of mine, along with a big ask. Will you join me for the journey?

So, I haven't been following my own advice lately... Between wrapping up our first year of homeschooling, coaching, trainings, baseball games and practices, and missing my mom, I need some extra rest and I haven't been taking it. The other night when I accepted this and reflected on letting myself get fried, I realized I hadn't written out my evening gratitude list for a few weeks. I love this as a nightly routine because it gets me off the screen, it's a gentle way to reflect on my day, and I always manage to find the joy no matter what... Good news is it was simple for me to begin again. I picked up my journal and made my list. I don't write a novel, it's usually bullet points. The next morning I came across the following quote in a devotional a good friend gave me...
BOOM. I know I may not win some of you over with this next thought but... Getting burnt out is a choice. There I said it. Okay, so it happened. Now what? Here's what helps me rekindle my flame... 1. Surrender. Accept that doing all.the.things is not realistic nor healthy. It’s also okay to not be good at everything! If you’re on social media on any given day you’re bombarded with what you should be doing and it’s easy to fall into the comparison game. Time to let Jesus take the wheel. Here’s a powerful prayer called the Surrender Novena. Whether you pray or not, I encourage you to read the words, these are universal worries and there is one answer. 2. Go take a nap. You can’t even think straight when you’re tired so stop pretending staying up a little longer to finish that one thing will make your a productive superstar. Not getting the right amount of asleep means you’re elevating the stress hormone, cortisol. This can contribute to weight gain, “foggy brain”, compromising your immune system, and messing with your mood. Hmm, sound about right? Now that I’m a mom, I get why when I went to look for my mom, I started in her bedroom.
3. Sit in the sun. Go outside! Get some fresh air. Your body produces Vitamin D and serotonin when you’re in the sun. Vitamin D helps strengthen bones, and aids in preventing cancer and certain skin conditions. Serotonin helps boost your mood and helps you feel calm and focused. Wow, our bodies are amazing! Celebrate this by stepping outside and appreciating the beauty around you as well as your own. 4. Make an appointment with yourself. I’m a big fan of scheduling self-care, actually writing it down in my planner. I am quick to brush off reading, a foot soak, or even scheduling a dentist appointment because there is always something more productive to do. So, I block time on my calendar to take care of myself. How productive are you really if you’re giving the world what’s left of you? If you can brush yourself off so easily, think of how your family, friends, and co-workers feel when they can tell they’re getting what’s left of you…? Make an appointment with yourself and keep it. Your mind, body, and soul are absolutely worth the investment. 5. Say “no”. Give yourself permission to s l o w down. The next time your flame is a flicker, stop and ask yourself, “are my choices bringing me closer to or further from the life I want to build?” What works for you when you’re burnt out? Share it in the comments and help someone else... Resolutions? Nope. Word of the Year? That's fun! Goals? Always! Do you feel like you're on top of the world each January only to feel like a failure by the end of February? Know that you're not alone and that reaching your goals doesn't have to be complicated... Here are three things you can do now to set yourself up for a beautiful new year. 1. Invest time in writing out your goals. This is your energy, your relationships, you career we’re talking about so this task is worth your time. Write out your goals the old fashioned way, with a pen and paper. People who write down their goals are 42% more likely to reach them and those with an accountability partner are 90% more likely to reach their goals! Why not set yourself up for success right away with this simple task? It's fun! Don't limit yourself, get it all out... 2. Good things keep us from great things. Are you sacrificing what you want most for what you want now? In our Amazon Prime world, delayed gratification is hard so we keep chasing the next shiny object, when what we should be doing is keeping our eyes focused on what we want most. You can lessen this temptation by, wait for it, writing your goals down! Keep them in a prominent place where you review them daily or create a vision board. List the benefits of reaching your goal and write down what obstacles may come your way. Awareness is key and going back to that benefits list will help you overcome those obstacles when they arise. 3. Ask yourself this question daily and as many times as you need to: Will this bring me closer to or further from my goal(s)? That's it. This simple question will keep you focused and in alignment. You may not always like the answer but happiness is temporary and joy lasts.
